A very rare antique jacket dating to the 1910s. The jacket dates to an exciting period in fashion history, transitioning between the historically referencing styles of the Victorian & Edwardian eras, towards what could be classed as truly modern ( the jacket could easily be worn today ) Created by London firm ' Russell & Allen ', & strongly influenced by the forward thinking designs of Poiret & Orientalism, there are several pieces by the same manufacturer, dating to the same era, in the collection at the V & A. The jacket is made in two luxurious silks, glossy & lightweight in beautiful candy pinks. Loose & unstructured, hip length with wide elbow length sleeves, the construction is kimono-esque, one piece of fabric folded & stitched up the sides & under the arms. The silk is lightly quilted with a stylised, geometric Oriental design thats foreshadows the lines of Art deco. The edges of the jacket are finished with a wide band of silk in a darker shade, also forming the collar which has triangular points. Fastenings are at centre front, disc shaped silk covered buttons. Inside is lined in the darker pink, with an inner patch pocket cut to points along the top edge & trimmed with small bows. The label, woven in gold, reads ' Russell & Allen London ' CONDITION Mostly very good. There are some small feint marks on the front shown in the images. One button is missing & one is a bit squished. Approx measurements taken flat - bust 42 length 27.5 sleeve from centre of neck 20.5 Please read the description carefully & ask any questions before buying. I sell all pieces as i find them, as a result vintage / antique items may have a musty odour. Colours on your screen may not be 100% accurate to the item. A smart antique mourning dress dating to the very late 1890s / early 1900s - Victorian / Edwardian eras - externally in excellent condition. Two pieces, bodice & skirt, in textured silk, open weave, with an embossed wavy textured finish. The bodice has a sturdy cotton underneath layer, fully boned & fastening at centre front with hooks. Over this at the front a loose, pleated plain silk panel fastens across with hooks, with the tall collar in the same silk, trimmed with decorative braid. Two lapels are trimmed in a military / nautical style with the decorative braid & small crochet buttons. The rest of the bodice is in the textured silk, loose & pleated in to the waist at the front. A wide shoulder piece is cut to sharp points & trimmed with the braid. Lovely elegant bishop sleeves, the top parts made narrow with vertical pleats, swelling at the wrist before gathering in to the cuff, the cuffs in the plain silk with braid trim. The bodice tucks in to the skirt & secures with a single hook at the back ( a belt would have been worn to hide the join. The skirt is fitted over the hips, with a full length pleat adding volume at the back, & small pleats kicking the hem out at the front. CONDITION All the visible parts are in excellent condition, with one small hole above the hook on the back of the bodice, a couple of loose threads, & some wear to the silk on the turned edges. A super stylish little black dress dating to the 1920s, in excellent, wearable condition. A minimal, modernist flapper style, hand sewn in lightweight semi transparent gauzy silk. The dress slips on over the head with no fastenings, cut pretty much straight ups & down in typical Twenties androgynous fashion. The neck is wide & square, trimmed with a self fabric bow. From here the fabric falls loosely to three wide pleats that sit just above the dropped waist. The skirt is pleated in to the waist seam, with a narrow decorative belt at the join, stitched to the dress with an oval buckle at the front. Sleeves are fairly loose fitting, with gathered , turned cuffs that secure with snappers. A sensational dress. CONDITION Mostly excellent, the only damage is a 2cm tear under one arm, running along the armhole seam. There are some very small feint white marks on the skirt( the photos make them look more pronounced than they are, & the worst one is on the reverse go the belt ) & some small, barely visible marks elsewhere. On the front at the top is a very small dot that looks like a fault in the fabric ( the other two marks you can see are actually on the mannequin ) The dress does have that 'vintage odour '. Approx measurements taken flat - shoulder 16 bust under arm 40 waist ( dropped ) 41 length 40 Please read the description carefully & ask any questions before buying. An elegant Victorian antique bustle dress dating to the mid to late 1880s. Made for a stylish teenager, the dress has a beautiful refined design, and, to my eyes, is quite stunning. Two pieces, in ecru wool, the bodice is fitted to a tiny waist & fully boned, with criss cross boning giving extra structure across the hips. The front is layered, fastening with hooks at centre front. The left side is made with pieced in bands of pale gold embroidered fabric, a raised pattern of stylised leaves, checks & dots - the design is almost Moorish, at the same time a bit Arts & Crafts. On the left a panel of the wool fastens across diagonally, organically gathered to create an almost classical Grecian drape. The panel secures with a hook, & there is a ribbon trim in burnt orange silk, with sashes reaching almost to the floor. At the back are bustle tails, two outer points, with the centre two squared off & fan pleated. The tall stiff collar is edged with plaited cord. The sleeves are very nice, with pleated fullness at the top creating a streamlined gigot, mirroring the organic flow of the bodice front, & fitted turn back cuffs with more of the cord trim. The full bustle skirt is also layered - underneath is a cotton underskirt, with inner ties & a pleated wool trim around the hem. Over this the wool layer falls with a slight drape at the front, with pleating at the back creating the shelf bustle. The front hem is decorated with a wide band of the gold embroidered fabric, the design slightly scaled up. There is a printed makers mark on the inner strap, but it has faded & is partially missing where the end is frayed, i can make out ' Dress & Mantle ' & ' Green Richmond ' CONDITION Scattered small holes in most areas, some shown in the images but there are more - i would say the fabric is 90 % good though. There are a couple of very small marks, & one larger mark on the embroidery at the front hem of the skirt. The silk ribbon is marked, & the inner collar & hem are quite dirty. The pleating at the top of the sleeves is secured with a couple of small stitches, these are loose on one sleeve. The wool is a bit creased ( i find the creases drop out of wool after being displayed for a while ) Approx measurements - bodice bust 31 waist 22 shoulder 10.5 Skirt waist 21.5 front length 34.5 Please read the description carefully & ask any questions before buying. I sell all pieces as i find them, as a result vintage / antique items may have a musty odour.
