An minimal sleek dress, possibly for mourning, dating to the 1910s / 1920s. Calf length, in black satin, the sleeves are fitted, the body tubular, flaring out gradually towards the hem. The dress fastens across the neck & side with snappers, almost like a Cheongsam, & there is a long loose panel, like an over sized tie, running down the front.There is beading to the cuff, neck, at the end of the flap & running diagonally from the hips in the front. The dress is cotton lined & has a large hidden pocket, oddly in a floral print cotton.A mix of hand & machine sewing. An interesting transitional piece - the silhouette is pared back & modern, the beading harks back to the victorian era. Approx measurements taken flat - bust under arm 37 hip 40 shoulder 14 length from side of neck 47.5 CONDITION Excellent, some slight wear to the beading. A very pretty 1920s over dress with a wonderful ethereal quality. One piece, a loosely fitted tunic in pale green net, sleeveless, with a high round neck at the front, low at the back. The dress falls to a handkerchief hem, & on the right hip there is a pleated panel, finished at the top with a long green silk ribbon tie / belt. Running down the front on the right side is beaded decoration, stylised deco floral. CONDITION Mostly good, there is one very small hole in the net, & the fabric is possibly discoloured with age. Some beads are missing but mostly intact. A stylish Victorian bonnet dating to the 1880s / second bustle era. As the bustle went out, the hat's went up - this one designed to sit on the back of the head, tapering to a tall, elegant point. The hat is constructed over a round wire framework, with black velvet ruched around the brim, then gathered & pleated in to the pointed shape ( the geometric folds & colour combo have an almost Art Deco feel ) Inside the folded velvet on the back is a pleated piece of pale turquoise / aqua silk, & the bonnet is trimmed with bows & rosettes in the same silk, black silk & aqua velvet. Underneath are silk ties in black. CONDITION The velvet is a little worn & dusty in places, with some small marks. The pleated silk piece inside the velvet is partially loose. The aqua silk rosette silk has split. The velvet bow is discoloured.Flat measurement 24 x 14cm Please read the description carefully & ask any questions before buying. I sell all pieces as i find them, as a result vintage / antique items may have a musty odour. A beautifully decorative little Christening gown dating to the 19th century. Light weight cotton, the bodice is vertically pleated front & back, fastening with ties. At the front are bands of crochet lace on each side, with flounces of floral embroidered whitework running up & around the neck. Under the flounce are short sleeves, embroidered tulle lace with a scalloped edge. The skirt is pleated in to the waist, opening out to a narrow bell shape with alternating bands of pleats, lace & embroidery. Another pleated flounce forms the hem, with a scalloped whitework edge. Measurements flat - shoulder 12cm chest double 34cm waist double 29cm bodice length 13cm full length 64cm CONDITION The cuff edges have some loose threads, & there are scattered spots on the skirt, front & back.
