This listing is for an original antique late Victorian gilt metal brooch, set with three seed pearls in a center medallion with floral engraving. It is a highly ornate & decorative piece from the later 1800s or very early 1900s. Measurements: ca. 4,4 cm long x ca. 1,6 cm wide (1.7 x 0.6 inches) Weight: ca. 2,3 g. Condition: Good. One tiny orb ornament on far side missing. Pin eyelet at the back slightly bent out of shape. Slight signs of wear due to age. PRICING NOTE EU/GERMANY: Angegebene Preise sind Gesamtpreise. Beautiful antique brooch set with 13 rose-cut stones of a wonderful rich red colour - probably almandines (a variety of garnet). The central stone is cut round & set elevated above the others, the others are pear cut. The stones are set into an unhallmarked metal (possibly gold plated) setting with an open back for additional lustre. The brooch probably dates from the 20th century. Measurements: ca. 3,5cm (ca. 1 3/8 inches). Weight ca. 4,2 g. Condition: Very good. Very slight signs of wear at the back on the metal setting, brooch pin slightly bent (could be straightened out by a goldsmith I reckon). Some of the stones have inclusions visible to the eye at close range. One stone very slightly chipped at the back. Given the tube hinge & safety catch of the brooch pin, the brooch was probably made after 1911 when the rotating safety mechanism was invented.
