Vintage 1930s salmon pink crêpe full length gown. Made in France c. 1935. This sleek dress has a white lace trim; the skirt falls in folds to the ground. The long metal back zip is concealed in a placket; the dress can easily be stepped into. There's a pocket on the left hand side. The dress is 133 cm long from back neck. It measures 94 cm across the chest, & 100 cm across the hips The 3/4 sleeves are 21 cm long from underarm to cuff. Condition is almost perfect; one tiny pinprick hole on the skirt, & I slight darkening at the neck. I bought the dress as dry-cleaned, but perhaps it should be cleaned again. Antique Brussels Duchesse collar/plastron. This finely worked piece dates from the 1870s to 1880s. It's in fairly good condition, but I have counted 13 places where the 'brides' (connectors) are broken. There are also about 7 light brown stains & 1 small dark one. All the motifs are perfect, making this piece not only a valuable addition to any collection, but a worthy candidate for restoration. The background colour is of dark red beads; the vaguely organic, abstract design is worked in red, green, blue & yellow glass beads. The bag frame is made of bone; this is extremely unusual. The bag has an original chintz lining in perfect condition. It is 16.3 cm wide & 17 cm high, including the frame. The beaded handle is 31 cm long.
