I only use those kinds of wood that grow in the regions the old Germans & the Nordic peoples used to live in & in which they used to practise the rites of their ancient culture. Tropical wood could hardly ignite the magic of that culture - still, it must be you who gives the items their souls. I prefer hard wood like oak, ash, beech & walnut. My favourite still is oak - Thor's own tree! Since all items are handcrafted & are not machine-made or even factory-made small anomalies in the wood's structure are natural & contribute to the uniqueness of the items. Sometime small pieces mean hard work too - even more so than bigger ones ! I need to be inspired to create my small pieces of popular art - & I hope this inspiration is reflected in their design.
