The bodice is made with pieced in Alencon lace, pinkish beige, beautifully detailed with stylised flora ( possibly hand made ?? ) the large armholes shaped around with interesting chevron darts. The neck forms a shallow v, joined at the centre then opening in to a keyhole, with pin tuck detailing at either side. At the back the neck plunges to a deep v, this & the hem edged with more lace. At the bottom of the skirt three triangular inserts give a slight kick. Inside there is a cut off label, what remains of it reads ' size 17 ' CONDITION There are a few very small spots, none bigger than 2mm, & a few really tiny holes only visible close up, none bigger than 1mm. Some slight wear around the edges of the lace. A feint mark near the hem at the back, about 3 cm. A small bumpy area below the left hip, about 4cm, & a 1 cm bump at the front below the lace. A rare, diminutive Art Deco wedding dress dating to the 1930s. Small proportions, most likely designed for a little person's wedding. Sleek & figure hugging, in shimmering silvery white stretch silk, cut on the bias to achieve a sleek, close fit. The top part of the dress at the front is ruched down the centre, with snap fastenings at the side & a low cut geometric neck line. At the back small domed buttons & loops run like vertebrae all the way to the hem. A stunning, shimmering vintage evening ( or wedding ? ) dress dating to the 1930s / 1940s, with matching hat & in mostly great condition. One piece, the fabric has the gloss & appearance of silk but not quite the handle, i think this is rayon - pale silvery gold ( champagne ? ) with an all over woven design of flowers ( chrysanthemums ? ) & foliage in yellow gold & pale blue. Very beautiful. I've shown the dress on a smaller mannequin to avoid stress on the side seam - on this mannequin the bodice is quite loose, to my eyes a nice balance of formal & casual, but it's possible that it's supposed to be more fitted. Pointed waist front & back, horizontal pleats across the bust & a fake bolero that forms the shoulders & sleeves ( really just extended shoulders ) The dress fastens at the side with a metal ' Lightning ' zip. The skirt is floor length, straight with a slight flare, pleated at the front hips on each side, with a chevron pleat at the front that creates a false apron effect. With the dress is it's matching hat / fascinator - a skullcap made with wire covered in the floral fabric, with pale blue floral lace filling the gaps & artificial flowers & leaves in blue, green & cream trimming the front. CONDITION Mostly good. A ring of discolouration under the arm at the front right sleeve, not immediately obvious, with the same but very feint on the other sleeve. There is one very small mark on the front of the skirt, & the seam above the zip has come open for about 4cm. The flowers on the hat have slight wear, with some loose stems. Approx measurements - bust 37 waist 31 hip 42 length 61 IMPORTANT INFORMATION - The pieces i sell are often over 100 years old & rarely in perfect condition, i make every effort to describe & show any faults, so PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION, READ THE CONDITION REPORT, STUDY THE IMAGES & ASK ANY QUESTIONS before buying. An opulent Victorian antique jacket dating to the 1880s ( the back definitely seems to be cut to accommodate a bustle, so i'm thinking 1880s ) - a nice gothic piece & an interesting alternative to the usual bustle mantle. Made in black ribbed silk faille, the torso fitted to a curvaceous hourglass, swelling at the back for a bustle & fastening with hooks at centre front. This part is sleeveless, the armholes finished with silk binding. The front is decorated with vertical black lace frills, beaded where they attach, with more lace around the stand collar, with a bow & ruffle at the back neck. More beading to the back, three bands converging to a point from the shoulders. The ' sleeves ' are made up with layered velvet panels, edged with beading & paillette tassels. Inside is silk lined, with a patch pocket, the makers label reading 'Frederic Corder Ipswich ' CONDITION Some of the tassels are missing from the velvet flaps. Some wear to the silk around the fastenings. The back left seam is open fro 3cm. Inside, the lining is damaged at the front right & collar. A stylish antique Edwardian / post Edwardian mourning coat dating to the early 1900s / 1910s - a stylish wearable piece, in good antique condition. One piece, straight cut & loose fitting, in black velvet . The velvet appears to be figured with a semi abstract foliate design, though this could be the effect of years of storage, on part of the back the pattern isn't so obvious. The coat fastens across with snappers, forming a V neck line which is edged with decorative braid, finishing with a lovely passementerie piece - twisting cord & elaborately knotted fringe. The sleeves have triangular shoulder flaps in the velvet, under this the main sleeve is loose fitting in black silk, the cuffs in the velvet. CONDITION Four snaps missing, two ' male' two ' female ', you can see the impressions in the velvet where they belong. Slight wear to the cuffs. A couple of very small pale marks on the silk part of the right sleeve, & a few very tiny holes on the left sleeve. The coat top half is silk lined, there is a 22cm tear in this on the left as worn, & a small 4cm tear in the back of the neck. Slight antique odour. Approx measurements taken flat - shoulder 14.5 bust 40 length 51 sleeve length along top edge 21 IMPORTANT INFORMATION-The pieces i sell are often over 100 years old & rarely in perfect condition, i make every effort to describe & show any faults, so PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION, READ THE CONDITION REPORT, STUDY THE IMAGES & ASK ANY QUESTIONS before buying. A stunning true vintage evening dress / ball gown dating to the 1950s. One piece, vibrant & vampish in vivid red with floral lace overlay. The bodice is fitted & boned, the under layer a solid red synthetic, fastening at the side with an ' Aero ' zip & hooks at the waist & top. The bust is in a red satin like synthetic, pleated organically at each side in top bows, with shoulder straps in the same material. The full skirt is layered - a cotton underskirt, then a layer of the solid red, a layer of net then a layer of the lace ( i've used extra netting to give the shape for the images, you can see this peeking out in some of the photos..) At the back are two wide triangular set in pieces of the ' satin ' full & billowing to give the illusion of sashes, with bows at the top in the waist. The label inside reads ' Blanes 14 ' CONDITION Mostly excellent. A couple of loose stitches in the front bows. Some very tiny marks to the ' satin ' parts. One of the bones is protruding slightly at the back. A stylish, vintage 1920s flapper dress with beautiful embellishments. One piece, slip on, with a typical straight, loose cut, in pale beige sheer silk. The dress is decorated with vertical rows of tiny clear beads, with double rows at the round neck & elliptical armholes. Over this is more decoration - stylised Art Deco flowers & foliage, twisting diagonally up the dress front & back, the flowers in tiny steel beads with diamante centres. The design is subtle, & only really becomes clear at close quarters. At the shoulders the fabric overlaps to form triangular points, & the dress is gathered with tucks at the waist on both sides. On the right side of the skirt is a set in panel, forming an asymmetric drape with a squared off hem. Attached to the hip on the same side is a self fabric belt, heavy with rows of the clear beads, with weighted, bead covered button ends, one with a beaded tassel. CONDITION Mostly very good. There are a few very tiny holes ( difficult to spot, the black mannequin has made them more obvious than they are ) Possibly slightly discoloured. There are a few very small brown spots on the back of the dress, & some feint marks around the hem. Some beads missing from the decoration, but mostly intact. It looks like at least one tassel is missing from the end of the belt. Approx measurements - shoulder 14.5 bust 36 waist 27 length 40 Please read the description carefully & ask any questions before buying.
