I've got a supplier which is ISO certified & promises to get his Tantalum from countrys where it's no conflict metal. That also kinda explains the price. Next to the classics like gold & silver, tantalum can be used as a store of value. The material is so rare that only about 850t each year are mined. Most of them are used in the electronics industry such as in mobile phones for example. Compared to gold, there we mine each year about 3230t (year 2017).
