Beautiful Pink Striped Silk Victorian Antique 1830S/1840S Dress Bodice

A beautiful Victorian antique dress bodice dating to the late 1830s / 1840s. Gorgeous glossy silk, woven with narrow stripes in pink & pale silvery gold. Fitted & boned , with a low v neck, originally fastening with hooks at centre back. The body is trimmed with tapering flaps running from the front waist, up over the shoulders & down to the back waist again, edged with a ruched self fabric band & twisted silk fringe. The waist drops to a shallow point at the front, straight at the back. Long fitted sleeves, the silk gathered in to the seams at the elbows, with two bands of ruched silk & fringing at the bicep. The cuffs fasten with silk covered buttons. CONDITION The silk is possibly faded, with some small marks. No fastenings present on the back apart from one silk covered button at the top & an eye for a hook, there are marks showing where the hooks were. The hem is frayed in places, with a small damaged area at the back, i think this was originally a dress, the skirt removed.
