The Space Cat design was adapted from a photo of the NASA astronaut Jessica Meir wearing the Extravehicular Mobility Unit suit she uses for spacewalks. Professor Meir, in addition to having studied the diving physiology of emperor penguins in Antarctica, spent time on the International Space Station as a flight engineer & scientist studying human cardiovascular physiology.
